QUESTION#1: Dear Karen, I know you don’t want anything stored under a bed but how do you feel about a wooden bed frame with shelves underneath that contain wicker baskets for storage (Pottery Barn)? We desperately need a new bed and I was very grateful to get this week’s Move It! assignment! Thanks! Evelyn T.
ANSWER: This question reminds me of that funny comeback that says “What part of the word ‘No’ don’t you understand?” Yes, I’m sticking to what I wrote in my Move It! weekly assignment here – nothing under the bed is best. Of course, some people out there do have remarkable constitutions and may be able to “take the hit” of baskets of stuff packed in under their bed, but since I know so little about you other than you need a new bed, I’m going to stick with my statement. Bummer, I know.
I guess we’ll just chalk this question up to that other common phrase that goes, “With knowledge comes responsibility,” because I do find that some people (architects especially!) don’t want to know about feng shui because they think it will limit them. I like to reframe it and say that with the knowledge of feng shui, it forces you to come up with more creative ideas that can make a huge difference in people’s lives.
The good news is that you are considering buying a wooden bed frame. Hopefully it has a nice solid headboard too. And remember to think natural materials and organic – especially when it comes to the bedding!
Here is a video on what should be under your bed…Enjoy!
