Now that so many of us are working from home, These are what items I most often consider and their importance with regard to desks and where to place them in the home.
#1 Come to terms with the fact that you actually NEED a permanent desk. After hearing lots of complaints about jobs being unsteady, I think “the laptop at Starbucks” method of doing work is correlated. You need physical space and a desk to be established for you to work consistently.
#2 A solid wall is directly behind you (as opposed to window.)
#3 Your desk is big enough to do the job, but not so big you feel dwarfed with responsibility.
#4 The desk has a “modesty panel” – so when people look at you from the door, they don’t see under the desk and see your legs. (even if no one ever comes in and sees you in your home office!)
#5 It is organized so that the wiring is under control in such a way so that you can enter and exit the desk without having to be concerned about tripping over wiring.
#6 A task light is on the desk to give you focus.
#7 There is a place for everything!
And lastly, if there is anything broken, weak, wobbly, or out of balance, fix it, and that will strengthen your business success! Hope this helps!
